Project Description

Subnetting (Example)

A subnetwork or subnet is a logical subdivision of an IP network. The practice of dividing a network into two or more networks is called subnetting. In this example I demonstrate how I would subnetwork a provided network of 160.100.0.0/16 to provide 900 subnets with the maximum possible number of hosts in each. Although tools and calculators are available for simplifying this process, I believe manual (pen and paper) type subnetting is a skill that aids understanding of network communication as a whole and would recommend anyone try to learn how to do it. There are plenty of how to’s available online: WHERE?
